Welcome to my last week of summer. Sadly, this was our last full week of summer vacation. But on a positive note, my parents planned an impromptu trip in to visit for a few days! They came in Thurs. night and left Sun. morning, and it was great to see them, even if just for a short visit.
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 9.02 miles running, hip PT, chest and tricep workout, 1ish mile walk
It was a HUMID day! I went out at 7:30 and it was only 73 degrees, but it was “feels like” in the mid-80s already! Phew! I did the best I could but I ended up only walking 4-5ish miles without stopping, then had to walk/run the rest. I still finished in under 11 min/mile pace, but there was a LOT of walking there! I also got in some weights (Chest and triceps) plus hip PT.
It was our LAST Sunday without any sports, and so we made it a productive one — grocery shopping, cooking,
Monday: 5.29 mile run, weight training (shoulders, back, biceps), hip PT, 2.97 mile walk, 1.14 mile run with LM
I woke up POOPED Monday morning. We had been cleaning the kids’ rooms Sunday and we weren’t finished at all Sunday afternoon, so we spent from 8-9:30 trying to get some more done (after dinner) but alas, didn’t finish. So we didn’t finish putting the kids to bed until after 10:15 and needless to say, waking up early plus the long run Sunday, left me tired! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get in a run, but I managed to get in my shoulder and leg workout, and a little back and biceps.
The day also included 2 walks plus a short run with my daughter, who asked to go for a run with me again. I’m loving this time with her and hope that it continues!
Tuesday: 5.05 mile run, hip PT, weight workout (some legs + back/biceps)
My hip was feeling a little sore after all the steps (nearly 24000 on Monday!) so I focused on some PT and then a slow run. It was cool and not humid, so it felt great to be outside!
Wednesday: 5.25 miles walk/run total, hip PT, core workout, 2.31 mile walk
I somehow slept through my alarm and got started on my workout 1 hour after it was supposed to go off – yikes! But I was still able to get in a run/walk, short core and then hip PT. GM also asked to go for a walk before breakfast, and I had time to get one in before starting my day.

That night, I enjoyed the Guardians game with the family. Though they lost to the Giants (my dad’s favorite team actually!), we saw a beautiful sunset AND the kids all got on the jumbotron!

Thursday: 6.25 mile outdoor run, 1.85 miles walking, hip PT, core workout
I thought I would be tired after the late night Wednesday, but I surprisingly felt good! I have no idea what happened, but I somehow stopped my Garmin during the run – and realized it maybe 2 miles later. Whoops! I did MapMyRun and figured out I probably did about 6.25 (not 4.something as my watch said). I also got in 2 short walks during the day, equalling about 1.85 miles walking.
Friday: 5.56 mile run, 6+ miles walking, hip PT, core workout
TGIF! I got in a run, and then lots of walking during the day. It included a walk to our local bakery to pick up some challah plus breakfast treats, and then a lunchtime walk around the lakes with my family!

That night, B and I also got in a walk to and from dinner, which added another 2+ miles to my day. I had a whole fish – you could even see the eyes!

Saturday: 7.06 mile run, hip PT, 2.38 mi walking
Got out and got in my run – I ended up walking a little bit, but overall felt good! Later in the day we were supposed to watch FW play his first school soccer game for the season, but the game got rained out so we ended up taking a walk with my parents. It was nice to get in some more steps and quality time together.
Total: 43.47 miles running, walking, hip PT
Some questions for you:
- Is the weather cooling down near you yet?
- Do you like fish?
