Sleep. That’s something that I have taken for granted for the first 30 or so years of my life. And then kids came, and well, let’s just say I’ve missed sleep sorely. Between having 2 kids, working (sometimes late), and fitting in running, life and all that’s in between, sometimes sleep gets put on the back burner. This week was one of those weeks and well, one day, I actually chose sleep!
Here’s a look at how running looked this week:
Some highlights-
I started off the week with a bagel run with FW! I haven’t done one of those in a while – I take him on the stroller for a run to the local bagel store (about 2.25 miles away), we stop and grab bagels, and then run home to enjoy said bagels. He typically gets a few bites on the ride home, too.
Sunday was cold and a little icy, so not the best day for the bagel run. But we made it and got in a stroller run for the first time in forever! The only downside — one of the tires was completely flat when we got home, even though we had just filled it up. I may need to patch it (?) or find a new one. So likely no stroller runs in a little while until I figure that out.
I took Friday AND Saturday off from running. I had some work stuff going on during the week which led me to get not the best sleep Monday through Wednesday. And then, Thursday night, FW woke up at 1 a.m with croup and was unable to get back to sleep. This meant I essentially got in 2-3 hours of sleep Thursday night. And when my alarm went off at 4:45 Friday morning to run, I was in my bed with FW trying to soothe him/get him to sleep, and new that running was not a real possibility. So, I took the day off. Maybe that means my runs this week will start off the week good with well-rested legs?
I finished the month with 133.38 miles. Overall, I’m pleased for doing so many miles during a cold month with some snow and ice, plus not having any really close races to train for and racing season is kinda dormant up here these months. My training for Cleveland will start soon, though!
Some questions for you:
- Have you already started training for spring races?
- Any idea how to fix a stroller tire that is flat after running on it?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Great week for you! That bagel run sounds like a great win-win endeavor 🙂
I miss good sleep. It’s hard with an injury, sometimes 😦
Croup is THE WORST. Little man had it once (as an older kiddo, interestingly enough) and it wiped him out for a week. Hope your babe is better soon, ❤
I am impressed with your January mileage. Great job! I don’t mess around with sleep. I try to go to bed early so I can rest up and be ready for the next day. If I don’t sleep well, I get cranky.
