Wow – I saw SO much wildlife during this week’s runs! I don’t know what was up, but I saw some baby deer (so cute!), a turkey AND a giant snapping turtle.
I don’t typically see much wildlife. I may no longer live downtown, but i do live in a nearby suburb. I’ve been seeing more deer lately, but to see baby deer, a turtle AND a turkey in one week? It was just bizarre. But before I go into that, here’s a look at the week as a whole:
Current Running Streak: 58 days in a row
And now, the highlights:
I saw this guy in the middle of a run. He was SO big! And supposedly he’s a snapping turtle.
Not wildlife, but I saw some great sunrises this week, including this one.
Oh – here’s the turkey (I think?) I saw, too. He was FAST! I tried to get closer to take a better picture, but he ran away before I could.
Some questions for you:
- What wildlife do you see?
- Are you up running when the sun comes up?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
I also saw a ton of baby deer this week and a turtle. Not as big as yours though! I don’t go out early enough but this might be the summer that changes. I am already dying out there in the heat
I see a lot of sunrises, and they are so rewarding to witness. That turtle looks like the one we saw on our bike ride last weekend. Not much for wildlife in my immediate area…mainly rabbits and squirrels.
You saw a turtle on your ride!! That counts as wildlife!

We have so much wildlife in my neighborhood at the base Of the white tanks mountains in Arizona.
I have seen deer, bobcat, a neighborhood mountain lion, javelin (wild hogs), road runners, rattlesnakes, coyote and hawks. No snapping turtles or turkeys.
Love the deer and road runners, fear the javalenas.
Wow!! You really do see a lot of wildlife. I can’t imagine seeing all that while running and not being scared and running the other way!
Nope, no wildlife here. I see squirrels and dogs. Good enough for me. 🙂
I don’t remember the last time I was out running during a sunrise. I really need to get out there sooner because of the heat. But I like staying in bed just relaxing too knowing that don’t have to log in my computer till 9am to chat with my students.
I feel like with so many more people working from home and not going out, the animals are feeling a bit more comfortable. I have seen deer, all kinds of turtles and birds, and snakes and alligators. I have also come across a horse in the middle of the road, as well as some peacocks.
