Under the Weather

Two weeks ago I kicked off Cleveland half marathon training with a bang. I ran every day, including getting outside for G’s first run in the big-kid running stroller, and was feeling great!

Then this week, the wheels fell off. I started feeling under the weather on Sunday night, and felt sick through Friday. It wasn’t anything major – mostly tired, slightly nauseas and achy (and yes, I took a COVID test – it was negative!). And even though it lasted only a few days, it put me out of commission and I wasn’t able to keep on track of training.

I didn’t try for speed, mileage, etc. this week. Instead, I still tried to run/walk when I could, knowing how exercise does wonders for my mood, so here’s a look at what this week looked like. It’s better than nothing, and If finally started to feel like myself almost on Saturday. Hopefully I’m back at it next week!

Sunday: 6.49 outdoor miles — this was before I was feeling under the weather and I ran some of it by myself and then others with FW and LM! It was fun to run with them.

Monday: 3.5 miles (walk/run) inside

Tuesday: 4.04 miles (walk/run) inside

Wednesday: 4.25 miles (walk/run) inside

Thursday: 3.33 miles (walk/run) inside

Friday: 3.6 miles (walk/run) inside, then .5 mile walk outside

Saturday: 6.1 treadmill miles – it SNOWED again!

Total weekly:  31.31 miles

Some questions for you:

  • When was the last time you were sick?
  • Did you have good weather last week? Sunday was amazing – in the 60s! Then we immediately got cold and snowy again

Note: I am a Cleveland marathon ambassador! That means I get free race entry for me, and a free race entry to give away.

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Other than nasty vaccine hangovers (all three Covid shots and both Shingles shots last year), I have not been sick since forever. I attribute a lot of that to having an active lifestyle, and also getting outside daily…something we all can relate to. I hope you’re feeling much better this week!

  2. I’m so sorry you weren’t feeling well. I’m glad it’s not COVID but there is a definite funk going around.

I’ve had some allergies/sinus issues, but I haven’t been sick (knock on wood) in forever.

Hopefully this week is a return to normal and you can get back to training!
