Stomach Bug

Man, I feel like each week I’m having another reason why I didn’t get in all my runs. And this week was no different. Remember last week when I ended the week feeling crummy? I was feeling achy and just well, not myself. It turned into a full stomach bug on Sunday and thus this week’s Cleveland half marathon training really didn’t happen. Here’s what it looked like:

Sunday: 3 rough treadmill miles
I woke up feeling still slightly off, but wanted to run nonetheless. I hopped on the treadmill and barely made it 3 miles before I had to get off. And that’s when I first got sick ..

Monday: nothing. Sick!

Tuesday: nothing. Sick!

Wednesday: 3.33 outdoor miles

I finally started feeling better, although still dehydrated. I decided to see how I felt for a few mile run, since it was sunny and in the 60s. While my legs felt AWFUL and I felt somewhat shaky after two days of a bug, mentally it was amazing!

Thursday: 4.1 drizzly outdoor miles

I was able to get in a few miles before work before the weather cooled down. It was drizzly the entire time, but I will take 60 and drizzly to 30 and ice!

Friday: 4.5 treadmill miles

I woke up and could barely get out of bed. All of a sudden, or so it seemed, 20 minutes had gone by and I was still in bed. Whoops! I got ready and decided to run indoors, since it was 30 degrees and rain/snow. April 1 indeed.

Saturday:  8.38 miles

I admittedly wasn’t thinking of running my long run this week. After feeling sick and just meh, I figured I’d take the week off. But B took the kids out of the house “so I could get in my run” and I decided to try. And sure enough, I did it! Weather was great for running. – sunny, upper 30s (cool for spring but great for exercise) and I’m glad I got out there.

Total weekly:  23.31 miles

Some questions for you:

  • What’s your perfect running weather?
  • Is it feeling springlike yet near you?

  1. sorry you were sick..

Ideal weather is 50s and sunny… no wind. A rarity but I will run in most anything except ice and rain.

  2. Ugh on the tummy bug! Glad you’re back on the mend. It’s going to be more spring-like this week…temps in the 50’s and rain, LOL
