Goodbye September

Um, excuse me, but WHERE did September go? I blinked and it was over! I started writing this blog post and completely forgot that the month had ended. So, here’s how September went:

  • No injuries! This is the first September in 2 years that I was able to run! Last year I was having some early signs of my hip injury and the year before that I had a broken toe!
  • Lots of walking! I enjoyed the great weather we have had and got in some walks before work a few days. With the kids out of the house at school now, I have time on the days I don’t go in to get in a walk. And I also have been doing some good treadmill walks while working.
  • 170+ miles run ! Getting in some early weekday and weekend runs has helped this number.
  • Hip PT continues. My hip is still giving me some issues, but I’ve been keeping up the PT every day to keep it strong.

Sunday: 10.35 miles running, hip PT

It felt so good to get in a long run on Sunday before a full day! We were watching my nephew for a little in the morning, before taking my oldest to his soccer game nearly an hour away (my husband took the little ones to LM’s closer soccer game instead – classic divide-and-conquer day), and then heading back home to our street’s block party!

Monday: 5 miles run, hip PT, shoulder workout, 7.7 mile walking

I was pooped Sunday night and fell asleep before 10 – yay! It made the 4-something alarm so much easier. That said, I didn’t want to get out of bed or out of the house in the dark – but of course when I did, the run felt good! I got in some back and biceps and then got out for a run. I also got in some walking throughout the day – nearly 8 miles! A new daily high.

Spot the heron!

Tuesday: 5.01 mile run, hip PT, leg workout, 7.75 mile walk

I wasn’t sure I would feel good running on Tuesday, and once again, I told myself to go out and do 2 miles because it was so nice out, and then walk on the treadmill. but for some reason, the body felt good – so I did my run, leg day (kettlebells, split squats and hip PT), and got in a walk. I got in some more walking later – it was a beautiful day!

See the first leaves changing?

Wednesday: 4.3 miles run, hip PT, plus 7ish miles walking

Another beautiful day! I got in my run, some hip PT and lots of walking. It was too nice out not to get outside, and I was also able to get in some walking while working on the treadmill.

Thursday:  4.03 mile outdoor run, hip PT, chest workout and 3.12 miles walking

My hip was bothering me slightly after all my steps the past few days, so I decided to take it easier than I usually would on a Thursday. I did my hip PT, a core workout, and a slow/easy run. I generally like to do 5 miles in the morning but ended up with 4 to play it safe.

Friday: 5ish miles walking, hip PT, chest and tricep workout

I had somewhat last minute decided to sign up for a 10K on Sunday, and with my hip feeling it the past few days, meant to keep Fri and Sat easy. I had early meetings for work Friday morning as well, so I just wanted to get in a quick workout, then get started on our day. During the day, I was able to get in about 5 miles walking, my hip PT and some weights.

Saturday: ~5ish miles walking, hip PT, shoulder and leg workout

Once again, I was trying not to run, so I got in some walking and PT before a busy afternoon. I walked with GM and LM to get bread and baked goods, did a 5k walk on my own, picked up our race packets for Sunday’s race,  and we had a soccer game for LM and one for FW.

SUNDAY – I have a 10K planned! I’m nervous but eager to see how it goes.

Total: 28.74 miles running, walking, hip PT and weight training

Some questions for you:

  • What’s your least favorite race distance? Mine used to be a 10K – it’s not long enough to feel like I can relax/enjoy it/take it easy (like a half marathon), but it’s longer than a 5K.
  • Are you seeing signs of fall? The leaves are just starting to change here.
