This week we had a few days off routine – I took off work Wednesday to celebrate GM’s birthday, and then Thursday night we hit the road for another road trip! It has been fun to have so many days of traveling and with the kids this summer – I’m hoping they’re making some good memories.
This week was one of those weeks of some travel. I am still unable to lift weights, but luckily there’s walking AND running to keep me occupied. Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 9.04 miles running, 2.56 miles walking, hip PT
I was super excited to get in this long run – the weather was cooler, the air quality wasn’t poor, and I hadn’t done a long run in a while! I felt good during most of the run and enjoyed being out there with the sun. I also got in a short walk later in the day – a friend and I had just finished the book Yesteryear and we had planned to do a “walk and talk” to discuss/debrief after reading.
Monday: 5.01 miles running, hip PT, deep core workout, 1.7 mile lunch walk
Back to my regularly scheduled Mondays in the office! I was glad to get in my run early before the day started. I also got in my hip PT, which was needed because I could feel my hip/glutes acting up a little after the long run on Sunday. I also got in a walk around the office campus at lunchtime, which was a nice way to break up my day.

Tuesday: 5.25 mile walk/run in the morning, hip PT, core workout
I was pooped! I don’t know how, but I barely made it out the door this morning. I had time for my run/walk, hip PT, core workout and that was it.
Wednesday: 5.55 miles outdoor run, deep core workout, hip PT, and lots of trampoline time
Happy 5th Birthday GM!!
I can’t believe GM is 5. He decided to start his 5th birthday by waking up at 5-something (!!), but luckily I was still able to get in 5 miles to celebrate his 5th birthday. The day was actually a pretty active one – we spent time at SkyZone (1 hour of jumping!) and then hit up the driving range before going to a Guardians game. I took the day off and it was fun to spend it with the whole family!
Thursday: 6.25 mile outdoor run, hip PT, core workout
I’m now 2 weeks without lifting weights, so I spent the morning running and doing PT, before a core workout. We had a long car trip planned, so I was glad to get in a run before sitting for 8+ hours in the car.

Friday: 5.75 miles in Upstate NY, hip PT, core workout
After getting into Upstate NY at 1 a.m. that morning, I was TIRED when I got up. My watch even told me to rest. But I couldn’t waste a beautiful, cool (60s!) morning when my parents were hanging out with my kids. So I got in a run and despite it all, felt pretty good to be out there. The rest of the day included a trip to the Saratoga Race Track, where we pack a picnic lunch and my kids love watching the horses run. We then enjoyed dinner out to celebrate my mom and son’s birthdays, and an ice cream/playground run. It was a long day and I was pooped by the end!

Saturday: 4.32 mile run in NY, 3.4 mi walk
I had plans to meet up with a friend for a walk, so I got in a shorter run early before meeting up with her. It was good to walk and chat and catch up. I was then able to meet my kids at the playground along the path, which they were happily conducting obstacle courses/timed races on.

Total: 41.26 miles running, walking, hip PT
Some questions for you:
- Any more trips planned for you this summer?
- Was it “cooler” for you this week at all? It was 60s in the mornings here in NY, but got to 90s by the afternoon!
