Anddddd we’re back (again) to our summertime routine. But summer is going too fast (yes, I’m a broken record) and we only have a few more weeks until it’s back to my early mornings and back to school! I’m not ready for the early mornings and rush to get everyone out the door, but c’est la vie (as they say in France …. or Montreal lol)!
But I’m getting ahead of myself. We had a nice week – our last week without any sports!! we just had piano lessons – and I enjoyed the slower evenings and later mornings and no rushing around.
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 9 miles running, 1.86 mi walk, hip PT and a little weights
I was SO glad to get in this run! I had planned to get in a longer run (8-9 mi) on Sunday since I hadn’t done anything long for a few weeks thanks to our travels. But when Sat. rolled around, I saw that we were expecting thunderstorms all day Sunday, so I assumed this run either wouldn’t happen, or it would be on the dreadmill. Luckily, when I got up Sunday morning, it was humid but clear! So I got in my long run as planned – yay! I also lifted a little weights later in the day, but just a few minutes while I was doing some hip PT.
And seen on my run on Sunday — a turkey.

Monday: 6.2 mile run, weight training (chest, triceps, shoulder, legs), hip PT, 2.7ish miles walking
I’m not going to lie – getting up at my normal summer hour was HARD! But it felt good to get in a longish (30 min) weight training exercise before heading out for a run. I also got in two walks during the day, which were lovely! A short walk at lunch with my kids and then a nighttime family walk. It was our last week for a while with no kiddo sports so it was nice to enjoy family time and beautiful weather.
Tuesday: 7.01 mile run, hip PT, weight workout (legs, back, bicep), 2 miles walking
I just assumed I wouldn’t be able to really run since I was tired (Tuesdays are hard and I went to bed later than I would’ve liked), and also because I did some leg workout .. but the cool (60!) temps felt so good, I felt great! I aimed for 3-4, then 6, and then decided on 7. It was all together a great run and perfect start to my day.
Wednesday: 7.3 miles walk/run total, hip PT, pilates core workout video
GM came into our room Tuesday night, and I woke up not as well rested Wednesday morning — plus my legs were sore. I decided to focus on some core workout and hip PT before heading out the door for a walk. After 2 miles of walking/running, I decided I would prefer running – so I did! I surprised myself with getting in another morning 10K. At lunchtime, I was working from home, so I got in a lunchtime walk with the kids. GM wanted to walk around our nearby lake and skip rocks, so that’s what we did. It was a great way to spend my lunch hour 🙂

That night, my daughter wanted to go for a run , so we went outside with a goal of 1 mile. She did great! It was 85 degrees and she pushed herself, not stopping at all. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do that when I was her age – I remember hating the mile test in elementary school!
Thursday: 4.6 mile outdoor run/walk, 2.3 mile walk while working, hip PT, pilates core workout, 2 mile walk at lunch
After all that running S-W, I was tired! I decided to get in a walk … but of course when I got out there, I wanted to run. So I tried mostly walking with a little bit of walking thrown in, and it felt good. I also did some deep core and hip strengthening work.
I also got in a bit of slow treadmill walking while working – I had a long newsletter to proofread and decided to do it while walking to get in some steps and also help my brain focus.
Friday: 3.5 treadmill walk/run, hip PT, core workout, some chest/tricep lifting, 1.15 mile outdoor walk, 1.5 mile treadmill walk while working
I woke up to thunderstorms, so decided to focus on some core workouts, PT and lifting. I also had time for a few miles walking/running on the treadmill, but it would’ve been much better OUTSIDE!
At lunchtime, I was able to get in a short walk – only 15-20 min or so, but it was good to get outside in between the storms. And then I got in some treadmill walking while working – I had a lot of proofing and editing to do, and the treadmill helps my brain get through that type of work.
Saturday: 7.15 mile run, 4.5ish mi walking, hip PT
Got out, got in a run, did my PT, and then we were off to start our day! It was our last Saturday without fall sports or activities, and it was nice to enjoy whatever we wanted. The day also included several walks including a walk to the farmers market and to the pool!

Total: 44.71 miles running, walking, hip PT
Some questions for you:
- Have any stormy weather near you?
- When was the last time you went to a farmers market?
