Happy 4th of July!! I’ve taken the last few days off from running, but got in a good amount of mileage last week, with runs nearly every day. I didn’t get in a true long run, but I ended up with nearly 30 miles this week. The runs included:
I only got in one outdoor run this week unfortunately – a 5.5 miler on Saturday. It was misting out but I was still able to get outside and get in 5.5 humid miles in my Jette skirt.
And since it’s July (yikes!) here are two goals for the month:
- To get in 1-2 outdoor runs a week
- To do at least one race
Happy Fourth to you!! Some questions for you:
- Do you do a Fourth of July race?
- What’s your favorite month for running?

Yep. I do a 4th of July race. Today was my 5th year running it. It is one of my favorite races.
Any idea on which race you’ll do?
I don’t know! I probably should find 1 in my neighborhood so I have a harder chance not doing it. I’m so bad about registering for races, I typically register at the very last minute
If you are looking for a race this weekend, Lakewood Summer Meltdown 5K is this Saturday and it’s a ton of fun! It starts at 7PM. It was my first-ever 5K and I’ve done it all but one year since 2012 (I was very sick in 2014). I’m already ridiculously pumped for this year’s race!
I’ve heard you talk about this race before! 7 pm? Wow!
I love October and November. It’s cooler, but not freezing and I’m not dealing with all the pollen in the air.
I have only done a 4th of July race once. Last year we were in Michigan, so I did a half marathon to knock that state off my list.
Wow, 4th of July half? That’s awesome!
Nice job on your runs, I’ve been in my “post-season” break so I haven’t hit any miles yet in July. I didn’t do a race this year but a tough barre workout!
