Busy Weekend, Short Week

We had a busy but fun weekend in town. I’m not ready for it to be MONDAY, but I’m glad it’s a short week!

Our weekend included some early Thanksgiving celebrations, a friend in town, a girls’ night, a toddler birthday party and of course some running. Here’s how it panned out.

Back Outside Again

Hooray!! The snow melted and we were able to get back outside and running outdoors again in CLE. That meant this week I was able to run outside most mornings and was able to ignore the treadmill for another week.

Here’s how this week looked:

Some highlights:

We started off the week with a FAMILY stroller run. We haven’t run as a whole family for a while, and it was nice to get outside with the four of us. LM was tired and cried for 2ish miles before finally passing out in the stroller.

We also got in a walk that day — look how nice it was out!

Thursday’s run was actually split between 2 workouts- I ran 6ish in the a.m. and then got in a short workout with a coworker, which I haven’t done in several years. It was a great way to beat some work stress!

This week is a weird week with the holiday, so hopefully I’ll be able to get in some workouts anyway.

Some questions for you:

  • Do you ever workout in the middle of the day?
  • Do you have any workouts planned for the holiday week?

I Baked 2X In One Day

The weekend included some festivities, running, relaxing AND baking. In fact, I baked twice in one day, which was a regular occurrence before I had kids.

Here’s some of the fun.

Saturday started with a baby shower for my sister-in-law! My mother-in-law baked the cutest cookies as usual.

Back on the Treadmill Again

Well, winter is here in Cleveland.

I guess technically it is still fall, but Mother Nature must have forgotten this week, because the weather felt much more like January. Cold, icy and snowy.

Yes, that was what we woke up to Tuesday. A layer of ice covered by 3ish inches of snow, and it was only 15ish degrees when I woke up. So, I decided to hit the treadmill.

The snow stuck around through the rest of the week (it finally warmed up somewhat Saturday), so I ended up running inside pretty much the whole week.

Here’s a look at my mileage:

Some highlights:

Sunday before the snow hit it was in the 40s, so I got out for a stroller run with FW. We got in 5 miles, which is a longer stroller run for both of us — he doesn’t usually keep in the stroller that long and LM definitely doesn’t.

FW even took a picture of me during the run!

I hope it’s a little warmer and we’re done with the winter weather for a while so I can be back outside again this week.

Questions for you:

  • How do you keep running outside when it gets snowy/icy?
  • Do you like running on treadmills?

A Weekend Before Winter Craziness Sets In

“What are you guys doing this weekend?” My mom asked me on one of our daily calls (yes, we talk pretty much daily) this week.

“I don’t think we have anything planned,” I replied. And then I checked our calendar. Sure enough, this is the last weekend before the holidays with absolutely nothing on our calendar! So, I was looking forward to having nothing planned and doing whatever we wanted. Which turned into a date night, several trips to the museum, a visit to the library, a playground stop and more.

Here’s what the weekend entailed:

I have a decent amount of vacation time left this year, so I decided to take a few hours off Friday and hang out with FW. This meant we had some fun one-on-one time, which included going to the “pancake store” for lemon ricotta pancakes.

It’s Getting Cold Out There

My last running post may have been about how October was a great running month, how the weather was amazing and yatta yatta yatta. Well, the running gods heard me, because this week November came in with a BANG and it was cold. We even had our first few snow flurries!

Goodbye October Running

October may be my favorite running month. Especially this year. We had a pretty mild month with no early snowfall and not too much rain that it interfered with my runs. And despite only getting in one race, it seemed like near perfect racing conditions each weekend. That’s why I’m proud of my total mileage for the month! Continue reading
