We had a FUN week in CLE! The week included:
- FW’s first 5K
- A visit from my parents
- Guardians games (they’re in the playoffs now!)
- A wedding (the first one B and I have been to since before COVID)
And, of course, some daily running. It got chilly here in the mornings, but the days were gorgeous! I was glad to be able to get in a few walks and runs during the daylight and enjoy some of the sunshine after last week’s rain.
Here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 3.1 miles – FW’s first 5K! There was a race/fundraiser in my neighborhood and the whole family participated! B wore GM and he and LM did the 1 mile – and she ran the entire mile and finished in about 13 minutes. FW and I did the 5K. He unfortunately wasn’t a fan of the race – it was cool and windy and hilly and we ended up walking much of the time. But he finished and I was so proud of him! He promptly told me he did not want to join me in the next 5K I have scheduled for later this month. Oh well – maybe another time.
Race cookie instead of a medal — so cool!
Smiles before the 5K
Monday: Woke up later than I would’ve liked. Remember the stomach flu that ran through our house last week? Well, it hit LM Sunday night so I didn’t get as much sleep as I would’ve liked and was moving a lot slower than usual so I didn’t get out the door in time to do a run and DR workout. Ended up with getting in a full run and LM felt pretty good by the end of the day thankfully.
Tuesday: 4.12 miles and a longer DR workout. I woke up to torrential rain – the kind of rain that you go outside to get your mail and come back in with soaked shoes so I knew it wouldn’t be the best running weather. So I snoozed and opted to do a longer DR workout. When I finished, there was a pause in the rain and I had 10 minutes before I had to start getting ready, so I got in 1.28 miles. Later in the day, I was able to sneak out again for 2.84 miles, bringing me to more than 4 for the day.
Wednesday: 5 miles before work. Uneventful (which is fine with me!) run.
Thursday: 4.8 miles – I slept in and was able to get in a run with the sun out! It was in the 70s during the day Thursday, so I was happy to be able to also get in a walk.
Got in some trails because it was so nice out!
Friday: 4.3 miles. I somehow snoozed (which I haven’t done in a while) and then it was raining so I debated going back to sleep or going out. Luckily it was still warm-ish (50s) so the rain didn’t feel too bad, and I was glad to get outside.
Saturday: no running! Well, just running around. Started the day with a haircut, then took LM to dance class, then I headed to a wedding! Got in plenty of steps dancing – more than 18,000! It was our first wedding since the pandemic, and lots of fun.
Total: 27.1 mi running
Some questions for you:
- When was the last time you went to a wedding?
- How old were you when you did your first 5k?
l am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Wow! Congratulations to your son- too bad it wasn’t a nicer day for him. And your daughter ran the mile! It sounds like a fun day overall. Maybe your son will change his mind (just like people finish a marathon and swear they’ll never do it again, then two weeks later they sign up for another one.). Glad you got some daylight runs in this week!
A wedding? Gosh…easily pre-pandemic, LOL! There have been a few dress-up occasions, so those have been fun. Too funny your little guy already said “NO” to the next race 😉
You look great all dressed up! We went to a wedding last summer and it was fun to be back. How great that your kiddos have the running bug already
I must have had to run 5K for cross-country, but I think I blocked it out. I hated running back then! 5K is a long way — it’s awesome that your son finished. And I wouldn’t mind a cookie instead of a medal myself.
You and your husband look so nice all dressed up!
Gorgeous photo of you two! I love it.
Race cookies are GENIUS!
I went to a wedding about two years ago. it was during COVID, but a big open space with a headcount limit. It was wonderful and a little scary, but fortunately, everyone was ok.
Looks like a lovely week, and how fun to have a wedding to celebrate! Love the dress!
