Is This Winter Running?

It did NOT feel like January here this week. The middle of the week (Monday through Friday) was relatively mild, no snow and well, pretty perfect winter running weather! I can’t say the same for yesterday – we got a few inches of snow and then ice / rain mix all day so this week isn’t off to the best start –  but last week was great for running!

Here’s a look at how the week panned out:

Some highlights/more info about the runs:

Monday started with a 10K before work. It was an early day, because B was traveling for work and I had to get in a run before he hit the road.

Tuesday was another earrrrrly morning. I ended up waking up at 3 a.m. and for various reasons, didn’t go back to sleep. Instead, I finally went outside and got in an earlllly run. This meant that I had met my step goal by 6 a.m.! (I try to aim for 11,000)

Speaking of step goals, I made my step goal all week except for Saturday.

I had planned on a rest day for Saturday, and with the snow and ice, plus some things that popped up unexpectedly, didn’t make it out for a run. I’m hoping that taking a day off will give me some fresh legs this week, but we’ll see.

Some questions for you:

  • Do you run outside in the snow/ice? When do you decide to stay inside?
  • Do you set a step goal for yourself? What is it?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Awesome week!! I usually try to get outside everyday…this week it just got too cold and was icy everywhere (not ideal for o’dark:30 runs).

  2. well since we don’t get snow/ice here in Florida, I do run outside 99% of the time. The only exceptions have been when its really stormy outside and I can’t run outside or when it’s super cold (aka below 40 here haha) and I get wimpy and don’t want to go out. But i pretty much hate the treadmill so I try to avoid it at all costs.

  3. I force my step goal pretty low (7500) because if I don’t run, the only way I will make it is if I walk Scooby twice. I’d rather have a feasible goal than something so impossible I just ignore it. We rarely get enough snow to run in, and I won’t run if it’s icy.

  4. Great job!

So in Florida, we don’t really have the risk of snow and ice, so it’s not a fair question. We did have one day running in the cold where someone left a sprinkler on and it did ice the road, but that wasn’t something we would have known going out. (It was terrifying all the same).

    I don’t really set a step goal.
