It’s Still February

Does anyone else feel like that February should be over already? I swear, February is the shortest month but it always feels like it’s the longest, especially this year. I really thought I was about to write a post that included all of February in review, but alas, that will have to wait for next week.

That said, it was a good week! My parents came into town and we had some good outside time with them and nice weather this weekend, which was great. Especially after last week’s up and down weather, having a beautiful Sunday and spending time outside with my whole family was GREATLY appreciated.

Here’s what this week looked like this:

Sunday: 5 miles run and 2.5 mi walk with the family —  It was great to get in a run before the day started, and I somehow ran under a 10 min/mile pace (average) for the run, which is fast for me these days. After the run, I was also able to get in a walk with my family. We went out with my parents and all walked to the nature center near our house, and the kids got in a little play time, we ventured into some trails, and then they got to hang out inside the center before we headed home.

I enjoy stopping to take a photo like this on my run – this used to be a lake but they emptied it!

Monday: 4.25 miles  — The kids were off school for Presidents Day, so I got to sleep a little later than usual, before getting in a nice sunrise run. We also took a walk later in the day to the library and for lunch, getting in another 1+ mile.

Tuesday: 4.53 miles and ab workout  –  Back to work! I got in some miles and abs, and then it was off to a full day in the office.

Wednesday: 5.59 miles and ab workout, 1 mile treadmill walk   – I slept later than I anticipated, but still got out for a 4ish mile run. Later in the day, I got in another 1.5 miles run on the treadmill, abs and a treadmill walk.

Thursday:  6.3  miles and ab workout  – I was able to get in a 5 mile run outside before the kids were up, then before work I ended up having time to get in another 1.3ish on the treadmill. Any time I can get in a little extra, I can’t complain! LM joined me in the core workout, which was fun 🙂 Later in the day, I also got in almost another mile walking, as I got to meet my sisters

Friday: 4.13 miles and ab workout – I need to be better about getting out of bed! I again was dragging, and got out of bed much later than I anticipated. Still, I got in.a run and some abs before starting my day.

Saturday:  3.33 miles run in the morning and ~1.6 mi walk in the afternoon —  I was able to get in a run before GM woke up and it was snowing! I don’t love running in wintry weather but it was so fresh and powdery that it was a nice change. It wasn’t too slippery yet, and I enjoyed being out before there were too many people and footprints. In the afternoon I got in a 1.6 mi walk and the snow was already gone! The sky was blue and it was a gorgeous afterrnoon.

Total mileage:  33.08 mi

Questions for you:

  • Did you get more snow this weekend?
  • What’s your favorite month?

I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. I woke up to a surprise coating of snow yesterday–no one predicted that! It all melted quickly though. Looks like you had a nice week and it was mild enough to get outside with the kids. We’re just all over the place, temperature-wise.

  2. Yes, it’s funny- last week I was saying “I can’t believe February went so fast!” and now I’m like “Wait- it’s still February???” Well, only for two more days.
Sounds like you had a great week of running, and got in all those ab workouts as well. Nice job!

  3. Not sure my comment went through (?)
Anyways, you had some impressive mileage this week! Great job taking advantage of all those extra minutes to squeeze in the extra miles 😉

  4. How fun to have your parents visit. I’m sure your children loved that! We got snow yesterday, but even though it came down for a couple of hours the ground was too warm for it to stick.

  5. What a good week of running! And what lovely areas you have there for walking and running. I agree with you that despite February being a short month, it feels so long. We have much milder weather here but I’m still tired of winter now! I have a few favourite months but the best is probably June, with lots happening in the garden and the whole summer ahead.

  6. What a great week! How amazing to see paces on a run that you haven’t seen in awhile, that must feel great! Way to go!

Why did they drain the lake?

All the outside time definitely helps with the mood, doesn’t it? Glad you had a good visit with the parents!
